ENTREPRENEURSHIP (5164)
1 SEMESTER – 1/2 CREDIT
(GRADES 9-12)
Entrepreneurial thinking is a critical skill for the careers of today and the future. This course is a practical program that includes innovative thinking, creativity, problem solving, and other entrepreneurial and business traits. Students will complete hands-on marketing and business activities to bring life to a business concept. Content includes the functions and foundations of marketing, economies, entrepreneurship, risk management and operations. Students are encouraged to join a marketing club {DECA, BPA} to promote leadership development, community services, team collaboration and business fun. This course continues in the marketing pathway. This course satisfies ½ credit for the Applied Arts requirement.
MARKETING (5151/2)
FULL YEAR ‑ 1 CREDIT
(GRADES 10-12)
Students learn basic marketing concepts through direct instruction and real-world hands-on activities related to marketing, selling, promotion, pricing, financial analysis, channel management, market information management, strategic market planning, product service planning, human resources, management and career exploration. Students will understand and implement the functions of marketing and how effective marketing is important and profitable - not only in the business world but also their daily lives. Students are encouraged to join a marketing club {DECA, BPA} to promote leadership development, community services, team collaboration and business fun. This course completes the marketing pathway. Also, marketing students have the opportunity to be selected for school store management and/or internship programs. This course satisfies 1 credit for the Applied Arts requirement.
PREREQUISITE: Entrepreneurship
STORE MANAGER (5191/2)
FULL YEAR ‑ 1 CREDIT
(GRADES 11-12)
The students will act as store managers of the School Store. Their duties will be to keep the store running smoothly, keep records of the store’s operations, train students on cash registers, price marker and supervision of the store. Students are encouraged to join DECA (Business and Marketing Club).
PREREQUISITE: Business and Marketing courses. Instructor’s approval also required.
Clubs
Anchor Bay also has competitive business clubs. Our students can join both BPA- Business Professionals of America or DECA- Distributive Education Club of America! DECA provides opportunities for its members to explore career options, gain real-world experience, and take on leadership roles. The Clubs compete with other Marketing students at District, State, and International levels.
