Testing Out of Coursework

Anchor Bay allows students to “test out” of core classes in which they have already acquired the necessary knowledge/skills. In order to successfully “test out” and receive credit the student must attain a level of at least 77% on all required assessments. These may include, but are not limited to, portfolios, essays, performances, projects as well as a comprehensive exam.

Students may not test out of courses in which they are currently enrolled or ones in which they have already received credit.

The next opportunity to participate will be on Monday, January 18, 2010. The deadline to apply is December 17, 2009. Applications are available in the counseling office.

Career and Technical Education

In Michigan, Career & Technical Education is designed as part of Michigan's career preparation system to provide learners with experiences, knowledge, and skills that will prepare them to choose and obtain employment upon high school completion. Please click here to find out how Anchor Bay High School's CTE program meets this goal.

2010-11 High School Scheduling - Student Course Requests

It is already time to begin thinking about course selections for the next school year. A schedule which attempts to meet student requests requires advanced planning.

Teachers and counselors will meet with students on February 3, to distribute scheduling materials. Students may bring a hard copy of all scheduling information home or it will be available at the A.B.H.S website, www.anchorbay.misd.net. Consider reviewing with your student their course selections for the next school year.

From Feb. 4 to April 1 students will be meeting with counselors to complete their request form. Any student who does not complete a request form by April 1 will be assigned selections by their counselor with no option for change.
