Relay for Life
The ABHS Relay for Life team has been working hard throughout this school year in efforts to raise $15,000 to donate to the American Cancer Society as our way to combat this horrible and all too common disease. The team is lead under the direction of teachers Mr. Ricci and Ms. Ruggiero. Student Leadership includes Katelyn Shippy, Abby Lobbestael, and Ella Potter. So far the team has raised over $4000. Our goal is to raise the remaining $11,000 by May 18, 2012 when our team will be participating in the New Baltimore Relay for Life event at AB Middle School-North.
At Relay For Life events, communities across the globe come together to honor cancer survivors, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against a disease that has already taken too much. The funds raised truly make a difference in the fight against cancer – just ask one of the nearly 14 million cancer survivors who will celebrate another birthday this year! Relay teams camp out overnight and take turns walking or running around a track or path at a local school, park, or fairground. Relay events are up to 24 hours in length and, because cancer never sleeps, each team is asked to have at least one participant on the track at all times.
Other Current Memebers include: Aaron Austin, Ashley Austin, Shannon Bush, Emilie Cline, Marina Dagenais, Dustin Decker, Joseph Deffen, Paige Edwards, Jessica Geer, Elizabeth Gunst, Autumn Haban, Kayla Kachalla, Kelley Matzka, Alyssa Patrick, Monique Robine, Allie Rutman, Adriana Saputo, Ryan Seamster, Rachel Shippy, Marisa Trapani, Emily Vavro, Lauren Wilborn, Nathan Winden, and Emily Wonsowicz
The ABHS Relay for Life Team is always looking for new members, donations, and sponsors; Please contact Mr. Ricci (pricci@abs.misd.net), or Ms. Ruggiero (pruggiero@abs.misd.net) to join get involved, or visit our donation page http://main.acsevents.org/goto/abhs
