Mission Statement

The mission of the Student Services Department is “to enhance the academic and behavior performance of Anchor Bay students.”

This is done through counseling, social work services, Literacy Coaches, Special Education programming, and Career Pathways through Career and Technical Education. Student Services also supports many federal and state grants such as Drug Free Schools, Title One, At-risk, Career Preparation System, Carl Perkins Special Populations and Gifted & Talented. Child Find

The Anchor Bay School District provides academic and behavioral diagnostic services to respond to the concerns of families regarding their children’s school progress. Concerned families can request assessment of their child’s strengths and weaknesses by calling the Student Services Department at 586-949-4513. This assessment process looks at the following areas:

  • Communication and Speech/Language Skills
  • Social Interaction
  • Thinking and Problem Solving Skills
  • Academic/Cognitive Assessments
  • Behavioral Evaluations
  • Response to Intervention Referrals

Anchor Bay School District partners with parents to address the developmental concerns of families when students need support for success.

Private School Students

Private School students are eligible for special education services. These services include:

  1. Evaluation
  2. IEP’s
  3. Speech Services
  4. Teacher Consultant Services
  5. Social Work Services
  6. Parents and students are provided with Procedural Safeguard Notices

Registered Home Schooled Students

Anchor Bay Schools has a department that oversees Special Education Services for the students of Anchor Bay Schools. The Student Services Department is located in Anchor Bay Middle School South.
This department offers evaluation services, parent resources, and auxiliary services to registered home schooled students identified with special education needs.

Crisis Information
